Personality: For those unfamiliar with Lalafell, Tataru might seem just as defenseless and sweet as her diminutive size and youthful face might convey. Appearances can be deceiving however, and while she certainly has a sweetness to her, there’s a sizable amount of determination, loyalty and sass stuffed into such a hardy, small package. What she lacks in physical strength or combat training Tataru makes up for tenfold in her ability to talk to just about anyone. She’s charismatic and chatty, borderline nosy even, and has a way with words that seems to loosen even those with tight lips. As the Scion’s receptionist and the person in charge of their coffers, Tataru is well versed in the art of the deal and how to negotiate with individuals from all social classes and walks of life. Without her the entire group would have most likely collapsed in monetary ruin and it’s her hard work ethic, patience and good nature that keeps the Scions woven together and the organization as a whole running smoothly.
While it’s uncertain as to where Tataru was born, it’s likely that she was born in Ul’dah, as she came to be raised there. To make a sad story short, her family went from riches to rags, Tataru’s father plunging their family into massive debt, so much so she had to work as a child to help pay what was owed. This experience clearly affected her and is half the reason why she’s so money conscious (even if she's prone to indulgent but responsible (?) spending on herself at times). Being indebted to anyone isn’t something she likes to be, which is why she tries her hardest to be self-sufficient. If anything this mindset shows through in her desires to be helpful and independent in whatever way she can and the various interests she pursues. She's quite literally a jack of all trades, learning all sorts of different skills and abilities so she can put herself to use in some way, regardless of the situation. One of the most prominent examples of this is she learns the basics of being an Arcanist with the desire to become more than just a meager receptionist but also a bodyguard. While this doesn't exactly work out as planned, her other endeavors prove to be more successful, as she learns how to weave and sew garments during her time in Ishgard, outfitting her friends (and herself) with lovely new and useful outfits.
While Tataru may wish she were strong and capable of holding her own in a fight, she will use her words to stand up for herself and sass those who disrespect her and those she holds dear or in high regard. Working as a singer at the Forgotten Knight, a tavern in Ishgard frequented by so-called lowlifes and other individuals of varying class statuses, Tataru lets her chatty, intel-collecting nature flourish and develop into something of an art form. She ends up so good at what she does that upon reaching Kugane, a new and unfamiliar land, she tells Alphinaud that she'll be making her way to the tavern in town straight away, for taverns are taverns, places where gossip and rumor and interesting tidbits of information can be found, and navigating such spaces is what she does best.
Despite all this, she still has a rather anxious side to her and is easily stressed when put in dire situations she has no control over or she can't seem to do anything about. When in immediate danger she's likely to be sent screaming or worrying her hands and is quite animated when doing so, even if the threat isn't all
that threatening. There's nothing muted about Tataru's emotions - she feels and expresses them strongly, and can easily be moved to tears whether it be from bouts of sadness or elation.
Ultimately Tataru is an optimistic little lady whose slew of various talents supports her friends moreso than she realizes. It's her good will and nature to persevere and her desire to uplift and support those around her that makes her so important in the lives of those she surrounds herself with. She may have bouts of self-doubt but once she focuses on what she
can do for a cause rather than what she's incapable of, she's unstoppable.
Abilities & Skills: -> Basic
Arcanist training, up to the equivalent of level 4 as she can summon Emerald Carbuncle. She learned the basics quickly but was unable to get her Carbuncle to listen to her or do what she wanted. Tataru excels when it comes to the theory side of magic but not so much the actual application of it.
-> Singing.
-> Juggling.
-> Goldsmithing and mining for ore/raw stones. She's good with a hammer and pickax.
-> Doing taxes. She's extremely skilled when it comes to numbers, figures, and balancing budgets.
-> Sewing and weaving. Tataru is a fantastic seamstress and is able to craft really bitchin outfits. She loves to do it too.
-> As a Dunesfolk Lalafell Tataru has better than human hearing and also luminescent eyes with a membrane that helps keep dust and sand out. How handy! However her race doesn't do very well in cold climates.
Inventory/Companions:Tataru won't have anything too fancy on her aside from a few of her sewing/weaving tools, her clothes and a quill pen.
Choice: Witch
Reason: Lalafell by nature, as a race, are known for their aptitude with magic. Tataru herself dabbles a bit with arcanist magic and while her summon doesn't exactly listen to her, the fact she was able to summon
anything speaks to her innate ability. I think that it would be pretty interesting for her to learn magic since she's quite driven to learn new things and for her to become better at the application side of magic.
